How Zombies Are Helping this Beginner Run Faster

I’ve been a runner on and off all my days. And I’ve been running for the past year on a regular basis.
I want to be a slightly faster runner. Not Paula Radcliffe fast, but a little bit, so that I’m not afraid of people walking and passing. You know, these young ‘uns, fair stride by.
Reasons I want to run faster.
- There are probably health benefits in running faster.
- I think it might be motivating, if I see improvement in my speed.
- I’d also like to do a 5K park run, but I don’t want to be last. I know, prideful, eh? What does it matter if I’m last?
Interval Training Could Work
I read that doing interval training with faster bursts of running, is a technique to increase running speed. But how do I do that? How do I time myself? I guess a sports watch might do it, but I haven’t got one.

So my idea is to use the Couch to 5K apps, which are programs designed to get the novice runner running 5K in a number of weeks.
